We welcome our local primary schools to join the biggest choir in Walsall. Students from in and around Brownhills will come together to perform a collection of well-known songs they have rehearsed over the past six months. We will be bringing them together with a live band for a massed choir performance that is all about this community, that we are so proud of.

Wicked is one of the most popular musicals in the world. Written by Stephen Schwartz in 2003, Wicked tells the story of young witches from the Land of Oz. The story begins before Dorothy arrives in Oz from Kansas, in the classic musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and the two stories are connected. The musical is most famous for songs such as Defying Gravity and Popular and the role of Elphaba was most famously portrayed by Idina Menzel on Broadway.
On Wednesday 26th June 2024, we will be taking 45 students to the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London’s West End to watch the matinee performance of Wicked. We are inviting all students in the academy, but places are first come, first served. Exact times and details of the visit are yet to be confirmed and will be communicated as soon as we have secured the 45 spaces available for students. However, we can confirm that we will travel there and back on the same day, and it is likely to be a late collection from the academy in the evening.
Before the show, we will be dropped off at Buckingham Palace. We will eat our lunch in St. James’ Park before walking back to the theatre for the 2:15pm matinée.
The Brownhills choirs and bands will join together for a celebration of our work in the music and performing arts department from this academic year. Join us in the Lecture Theatre for the first performances from our new 8-18 enrichment programme.
